Project description:

The main goal of the project was to arrange the city as a living space for people aged 60+ by introducing innovative technological solutions that increase the sense of security and the level of activity.

Additional goals of the project were:

  • building an information society through IT and technological education of seniors (limiting the phenomenon of digital exclusion);
  • intensifying co-deciding in matters of the city and co-creating its space through the involvement of citizens;
  • engaging various social groups in the diagnosis of the city management method, which will allow the introduction of intelligent, but at the same time easy-to-use technological solutions in the city;
  • disseminating the idea of cooperation between generations in order to transfer skills to each other (synergy of traditional elements with the information society).

The leading area of the project were innovative solutions to support social participation, as an essential element for an intelligent city co-created by residents.

The activities  carried out under the project were:

  1. implementation of a special integration square located in the square in the city center, which is the quintessence of the idea of ​​a participatory society. The above-mentioned square was designed from scratch by seniors and young people; the concept created by the residents was the basis for the preparation of project documentation;
  2. interactive information kiosks located in key points in Zduńska Wola as a cultural information distribution channel for people who have difficulties using the Internet;
  3. implementation of the Intergenerational Forum, the main goal of which was to strengthen the developed intergenerational relationship and to summarize participatory activities;
  4. a cycle of public consultations between residents and authorities and officials in order to develop a method of managing the city taking into account the voice of its citizens, with particular emphasis on introducing innovations that make life easier, but easy to use for the elderly.
