Project description:
As part of the project, the City of Podkowa Leśna carried out:
- launching air quality monitoring and creating a platform for collecting and processing monitoring data. Professional sensors for measuring dust concentration and gas concentration was purchased. In addition to air pollution, basic meteorological parameters are measured. The measurements allow to obtain information on the intensity of combustion processes of solid fuels (eventually liquid fuels as well) and their impact on air quality. This indicator, after a detailed analysis of the chemical composition of the dust, makes it possible to identify the types of emission sources that affect air quality. The system is supplemented with an interactive map of polluters and the so-called"role models". The platform is also used in educating residents, including students of primary schools in Podkowa Leśna;
- starting video monitoring of the sewage pumping station. The 5 most important pumping stations for the entire system (main transfer pumping stations) were equipped with sensors enabling electricity management, control and viewing the technical condition. The monitoring system enables the residents to be informed about malfunctions and will prevent flooding of residents from their own domestic sewage systems. In addition, telemetry in pumping stations enables the analysis of the technical condition of the pumps and thus faster replacement of wearing parts;
- conducting an urban audit in accordance with ISO 37120 as a determinant of sustainable city development. In the future, the city intends to build databases with data from various sensors and make them available to the outside world. The second result of the project is the increase in the already high ecological awareness and the opening of the society to new technologies in city management.
