Project description:
As part of the project, activities related to sustainable urban mobility have been carried out:
- Analysis of road and pedestrian traffic in the city, with particular emphasis on the traffic and pedestrian traffic in the city center, reconstruction of the main intersections, creation of a bicycle paths system;
- Safe crossings for pedestrians – installation of intelligent lighting at pedestrian crossings and in the roadway directly in front of the crossing. Sensors installed in lamps illuminating the crossing increased the light intensity at the crossing and increased visibility. In addition, lights built into the road (e.g. red flashing) warn drivers about traffic within the crossing. Moreover, installation of an anti-skid surface that shortens the braking distance before crossing was installed;
- Preparation of technical documentation of intersections within the railway crossing and viaduct – the location of intersections and the basic assumptions was result from the prepared traffic analysis;
- Improvement of the urban landscape – this action was aimed at developing a landscape audit on urban advertisements for the purposes of passing local law and ordering road markings. Based on the audit, a study on standards for urban space was prepared. The development and implementation of standards increased the spatial order and also improvde traffic safety through the lack of distraction caused by advertising "mishmash" in the city.
